Overview

Tang Huo Gong Fu (汤火功夫过桥米线麻辣香锅) stands out as a vibrant culinary spot nestled in the heart of Kuala Lumpur’s Crystal Ville. This Chinese restaurant brings together the rich tradition of crossing-the-bridge rice noodles with the bold, numbing flavors of Sichuan-style mala xiangguo, offering an authentic taste experience that caters especially to lovers of spicy, robust dishes.

The signature Crossing-the-Bridge Rice Noodles at Tang Huo Gong Fu are a true highlight. Patrons consistently praise the perfectly chewy noodles immersed in a broth that is both rich and clean, achieving a satisfying depth without overwhelming greasiness. This classic Yunnan specialty captures a comforting balance, ideal for diners who appreciate nuanced flavors in their soups.

On the other side of the menu, the Mala Xiangguo, or spicy stir-fried pot, allows for a high degree of customization—diners select from fresh ingredients including meats, seafood, vegetables, tofu, and mushrooms. The dish is expertly stir-fried with fragrant Sichuan peppercorns and chili, delivering that signature mala combination of heat and numbing spice. Those who relish fiery, complex dishes will find this deeply satisfying, while the option to adjust spice levels ensures accessibility for a wider audience.

The overall dining experience at Tang Huo Gong Fu is praised for its authenticity and consistent quality. It’s a place where the flavors evoke nostalgic memories, especially among regulars who have embraced it since their college days. While the ambiance reflects a casual, no-frills setting, it maintains good hygiene standards, making it a dependable choice for daily meals or gathering with friends.

Located at 38, Jalan Danau Niaga 1, the restaurant is positioned well within a bustling district. Despite limited parking, its popularity speaks volumes about the quality and experience it delivers. This venue suits those who seek comfort food with a spicy kick and authentic Chinese culinary craftsmanship, particularly fans of mala cuisine and noodle soups.

In summary, Tang Huo Gong Fu offers a compelling fusion of traditional Yunnan rice noodles and the fiery essence of Sichuan mala. With fresh ingredients, customizable dishes, and a welcoming atmosphere, it remains a standout option for diners in Kuala Lumpur looking for genuine, flavorful Chinese fare.

I've been a fan of KungFu Soup for years, and it’s always been my go-to spot for the famous Crossing-the-Bridge Rice Noodles, Spicy Stir-Fried Pot, and Spicy Dry Noodles. Back in college, I came here almost every week—the rice noodles are perfectly chewy, and the broth is rich without being greasy. The Spicy Stir-Fried Pot is a must-try, with just the right level of heat and tons of flavor, making it a real crowd-pleaser. But let’s not forget the Spicy Dry Noodles! The noodles have the perfect bite to them, and the spicy sauce clings to every strand. It’s bold, flavorful, and has a nice kick that keeps you coming back for more. Even though I’ve graduated and don’t come around as often, every time I pass by, I still make it a point to stop by. The taste is as comforting and familiar as ever, and every bite brings me right back to those college days. Highly recommend this place to anyone looking for authentic, satisfying flavors—you won’t regret it!

This is a popular Chinese restaurant chain specializing in *Crossing-the-Bridge Rice Noodles* (过桥米线) and *Mala Xiangguo* (麻辣香锅, spicy stir-fry pot). The restaurant is known for its customizable dishes, allowing diners to choose from a wide variety of ingredients and spice levels. I ordered “less spicy” Mala Xiangguo (麻辣香锅, Spicy Stir-Fry Pot). It is a Sichuan-style dry pot where you select your own ingredients (meats, seafood, vegetables, tofu, mushrooms, noodles, etc.). The dish is stir-fried with a fragrant, numbing-spicy *mala* (麻辣) sauce made with Sichuan peppercorns and chili.

The Best 麻辣烫 i have in town!! Unlike the usual mala tang, this soup is smoother! Plus all the seafood, meat, veggie and noodles are all weighed at the same price which is RM5.50/100grams!

The food was delicious and full of flavor. The staff were friendly and helpful, even suggesting the best choices for first-timers — and the recommendation didn’t disappoint. Prices are reasonable too. Highly recommend this place to anyone who loves Mala!

My new favorite hotpot kitchen restaurant. The food tastes nice and comes at a reasonable price. The downside are that the area is difficult to find parking, and the restaurant is very crowded with packed seats. But this will not stop me from coming back here.

Repeated visit. Been there for more than 10 times (no joke) . my favourite dinner/supper restaurant. Like both their mala soup and mala hotpot (dried). Slightly pricey as both of us usually ordered between rm 25-40 each bowl. The boss provides very efficient and good service Ps: visited numerous times as a very regular customer here, I hope they can standardise the spiciness, I ordered mid level of spiciness, but it always come with different spiciness, some days more spicy, some days less spicy. Also hope that they can maintain the price Update on 28.08.2023: probably the business of this restaurant is getting better and better, and always crowded with customers, the service provided by the boss is not as good as my first visit. They also didn't maintain the level of spiciness, sometimes I ordered mid but the spiciness level is similar to the least spicy, but sometimes it tastes like super spicy. Hope they can do quality control and fix the spiciness level. Also, there is one occasion where I spotted hair at the area of taking ingrediences, and the hair was soaked in the bird eggs with water, which is super gross and unhygienic, after I notified the staff there, the staff only removed the hair without changing the water or washing all the bird eggs, which I feel super disappointed and lost confidence in the hygiene level of the restaurant. I used to rate 5 stars, but after this occasion, and the dropping in service quality, I revised my rating to 4 stars.
